Printed: Weimar, 1804 Map of North and Central America drawn shortly after the Louisiana Purchase, labeling Mexico as ‘New Spain’. Though Orleans is shown, there is very little detail in Texas and on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. With interesting features such as Alexander’s Mackenzie’s route arriving at the arctic ocean in 1789, also marking Samuel Hearne’s founding of the Hudson’s Bay Company’s first interior trading post, Cumberland House, in 1774. Map extends from Alaska and the Aleutian Islands to Baffin Bay in the north, and as far south as Panama and the West Indies. . This is an original engraved map.  Very Good condition, and retaining a strong impression. Suitable for framing.
