Printed: Weimar, 1805 Unusual map detailing the intricacies and course of the Ganges River from Colgong, in the Bhagalpur district of Bihar, to Kusbah in West Dinajpur, West Bengal, and concluding at a small village named Hurrosonker. This is an original engraved map.  Very Good condition, and retaining a strong impression. Suitable for framing. Sheet measures approximately 11 inches x 23 inches (28 cm x 58.5 cm). Major Robert Hyde Colebrooke (1762-1808) performed an extensive survey of the river and wrote a substantial paper for the Asiatic Society in 1803, titled ‘On the Course of the Ganges through Bengal’.   This is an original map from a multi-volume scientific journal titled "Allgemeine Geographische Ephemeriden", which issued fifty volumes from 1798-1816 and which encompassed critical contemporary topics of geography and astronomy.   Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool.
