Cartographer Christian Gottlieb Reichard presents a stellar map of the Sinai Peninsula encompassing historic ports and towns of ancient Arabia Felix, today’s Saudi Arabia and Yemen. Features detailed coastlines of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. Shows Mount Sinai, ancient Egyptian city Thebes, and segments of the Nile. This is an original engraved map, in Very Good condition, and retaining a strong impression. Suitable for framing. Sheet measures approximately 16.75 inches x 15.25 inches (42.5 cm x 39 cm). Christian Gottlieb Reichard (1758- 1837) was a German cartographer. He is best known for his collaboration with Adolf Stieler on Stieler's Handatlas, which was a 50-map project that was published between 1817 and 1823. This is an original map from a multi-volume scientific journal titled "Allgemeine Geographische Ephemeriden", which issued fifty volumes from 1798-1816 and which encompassed critical contemporary topics of geography and astronomy.
