Description
This 1883 Singer 12K "New Family" Fiddle Based Hand Crank Sewing Machine with serial number #5863722 is in good condition and was probably manufactured at the Singer plant in Scotland. This machine has the Acanthus Leaves Decal set. The Singer 12K was the machine that made Singer famous and was copied by most sewing machine makers of the day. First introduced in America in 1863 it was available in Great Britain around 1866. The Acanthus decal set was used by singer from 1879 to 1889.      This Singer sewing machine is in good condition, the hand crank turns smoothly and with ease. The decal set, Acanthus Leaves, is in good condition with some wear on the working surface. The paint is in good condition with some paint chips on the base and head. The front slide plate is stamped with the singer logo. The slide top or "DOG BOX" style top is in excellent condition with a fully functional lock and key. This machine comes with boat style shuttle, two bullet style bobbins, a needle, and bobbin winder.      This unique sewing machine would make an excellent  good addition to any collection.
