The table comes with the set of matching 8 chairs as shown in the picture. We can safetly say this is the ultimate dining set and would last you for many generations, hence becoming a great heirloom. I honestly hope the photos do this set some justice, it's certainly better in the flesh.When fully extended by the leaf system this seats 8 people more than comfortably and 10 easily. The table extends easily by the wind up mechanism where you insert the big handle in one hand (please see close up picture) and everything is of course provided.Perhaps the main feature of the table is the fantastic marquetry inlay work on all surfaces. The patterns and designs include flowers, vines, scrolls and leaves. If you consider the process to acheive this you can appreciate the skill, levels of craftmanship and time it would have taken. Each shape from the designs is cut from the softer fruitwoods (rose, apple etc) and then embedded into the main body of the walnut. You can see the walnut also is gorgeous and it has all just been repolished so the grain has come out. There are even marquetry inlay details on the sides of the table and to the octagonal legs. The legs are on wheels so this is easy to move around.This is a fine table, offered in perfect condition and ready for home use right away. Then of course we have the set of 8 matching chairs - including two arm chairs and six side chairs. The chairs are solid and sturdy and very comfortable to sit on with the cushioned red fabric seats. These have just been reupolstered so are free from any previous owners smells including pets and smoke, always a bonus. Look at the wealth of marquetry inlay work on the chairs - even on the legs and front. Breathaking. Plus the hand carved details like the shell motifs to the backsplat and legs and the cabriole bend. The chairs are solid and stable with no wobbles and very comfortable to sit in.Good luck.
