Scout joined our family in the early seventies when a friend and his wife traveled to Argentina on their yearly family visit. On a walk in the country one day they came upon a very old carousel in a field overgrown with weeds. After exploring they contacted the farmer whose land the carrousel had been neglected for many years. After some negotiation my friends bought all the horses from the farmer and shipped them back to the U.S. There were only about 12 of the horses since it was a very small child's carousel. I purchased one of the horses and "Scout" has been a true and trusty steed of ours for over 35 years. Well, it's time to put him out to pasture and to bring joy to another caring family. He has hung from our ceiling on chains, been mounted on a pole, sat proudly over the fireplace and graced many a floor in our homes. "Scout" is a little guy compared with his big brothers, he is about 3 1/2 feet long and stands about 30" tall with a girth of about 9". He has a real horse hair tail that is in wonderful shape. He's also a little hard of hearing since he's over a hundred years old and has lost one of his ears. His two front legs were replaced with old wooden pegs for nails and are hand carved, this is the way he was found. Many layers of paint remain and just adds to the primitive antique patina that only old age brings. "Scouts" design isn't fancy but he has a heart of gold. "Scout The Pony" has brought many a smile to little children for many years and it's time to let him bring those smiles back again to your family and create memories of your own.
