These beautiful pulls are original to the piece. However, the pulls on the upper drawers have been replaced somewhere along the piece's long and lustrous life. The drawer has sustained some damage, although it has been skillfully repaired. The back remains as sturdy and solid as ever. This rare Regency mahogany sideboard was hand-crafted from solid wood in England around 1810. Since then, the mahogany has acquired a lovely and subtle patina that enriches the naturally beautiful mahogany grain and complexion. The serpentine construction is both unique and striking, as are other features such as the bold brass hardware, thick fluted legs, and distinctly hand-set satinwood and rosewood inlays. As you can see in the pictures below, the wood used in this piece is very thick, and combined with excellent craftsmanship results in an incomparably sturdy piece, that clearly was made to last for generations. So sturdy was this piece's construction that virtually all of it remains original. However, although the lower pulls are original, the upper pulls were replaced many years ago. Also, none of the locks function. There is a small, old crack on one of the drawer fronts, but has some time ago been repaired; otherwise, condition on this piece remains startlingly excellent.
