Description
Up for auction is a machine used in the early 1900’s to receive stock quotations. It has a cast iron base painted black with a brass description plaque that was added after the machine was taken out of service probably in the 1950's. The mechanism has a brass frame which fits into the base, and a glass globe that fits over the mechanism. There is a slot in the base for the paper to come out of. I believe the machine is complete. There doesn’t seem to be anything obvious missing. It comes with a spool of paper. It is in overall very good shape. The base has a few paint chips and a there are a few rust spots on the mechanism that could be easily cleaned up. On one side of the brass mechanism it says “M’F’D. BY T.A. EDISON, INC. and 6296 which is probably the serial number. The whole thing stands 13 ½” tall with the globe on and is 8” in diameter at the widest point (the bottom) of the base. The globe is very fragile. The glass has waves and bubbles in it but there are no breaks or chips in the glass. There is a reasonable reserve on this machine. Buyer can pick it up in Dallas or I will take it to a pack and ship so that it is packaged correctly. Buyer will assume all packing and shipping costs. Sorry, but no international sales on this item.
