It is covered with the Stuart tartan: outside as well as inside. The inside of the lid, the tray and the inside bottom of the box have been covered with tartan paper . The outside bottom and all inside sides are painted black. The beautiful undulating shape is enhanced by gold lines. There is an original early colour picture of a Scottish landscape. It is a photograph of Luss straits at Loch Lomond. Exactly this postcard is for auction on Ebay on the moment I write this description. The seller of the card has added the date of 1889-1895, which I take as an indication for the date of this box. The box is 10 3/4" long, 6 3/4" wide and 3 3/4" high. The weight is 1260 gram. The condition is excellent inside and very good outside. The hinges are in perfect working order. There is a small gap at the left hand corner and there are surface scratches. Imagine this wonderful workbox on display in your house. It's a rare museumpiece! Place a Bid!
