Very primitive and fantastic. Origin is Tanzania near Kilimanjaro, Arusha. Made with hand cut trade beads. Mother has leather hide hair and daughter has rafia hair with leather hide covering her back. Some of these figurines can be seen in museums where the daughters are strapped to the mother around her belly; harder to find them seperate like this pair. Wonderful patina, excellent condition. Quite amazing condition for its age; no chips, except one on the side nose of the mother. I show many closeups and photos for you to view. Measures: Mother: 12 1/2" high. 3" wide from shoulder to shoulder across. Daughter is 7" high from top of her roped her which is standing. About 2 1/2" across her shoulders.
