Their mentor Marcel Gascoin was an inspiration for a lot of young designer like them in their understanding of the social implication of the UAM movement ( Le Corbusier and Mallet-Steven founder) .The choice of clear waxed oak with a metal base has an "organic" touch in the same manner than Perriand works . The style is part of the after war period before production cost became the only discerning factor .Those designers were still attach to an original French design with a desire to produce clean and artistic form in furnishing. The base has a Mategot touch with the "ritigulle " ( Hollowed metal piece) , it is well known that he had extensive relashionship with most of the major designer of this era  so it would not be surprising if he was part of this project .Feel free to Email me if you need more info on this exceptional piece.
