view my other auctions below: visit my entire auction showcase FUNKY 'DESIGN MANCHU 50's Asian Barkcloth Fabric Pillow to start a new line use --> FREE SHIPPING!!  OOOOOHHHH my friends!!!  I have finally done it....I finally used one of my most fabulous, most coveted, most possessive, prized, vintage barkcloth.  I have had this for years and made pillows for myself and drapes in my last abode in Asbury Park, but I have held onto this other fabric for so long.  Unused and in mint condition, found as part of a bolt of fabric from the now closed Katz's Fabrics and Home Design, which was around to see Miami Beach in it's original glamour days of the 40's through the 1980's.  Located in what is now the "Design District" of Miami Beach, it is where many artists, designers and lead world class architects call home to their businesses.  Katz's was a long time figure and remained in that district through some dark days, to where they were the only store left for years in that area.  Three full floors of fabulous fabrics, they had the very best of what was used to decorate Floridian's homes back in the day, and much of it was all left overs on the third floor, that was just never used vintage barkcloth.  At the time I had a jeep and spent weeks in South Florida, it was circa 1987 for this boy and he filled that jeep up with bolts and remnants, draperies that customers never picked up.  The shop had it's final closeout and lemme tell ya, no one, no one was going after barkcloth back then.  People looked at me like I had 3 heads, just couldn't understand it as I walked out with armfulls of vintage barkcloth!  What else would you expect from a boy dressed in a pink polo oxford, jeans and flip flops, complete with coffee and a flashlight picking through trash and dumpsters as a 20 year old?  I have pulled neoclassical statues from the trash! :-)  I was such a garbage picker that I made a calender of garbage nights in area towns where I lived and went out with two staples....coffee and a flashlight!  I am proud to say I am a fabulous garbage picker from way back!  A magazine article once exposed me and titled the article "On a Rescue Mission, An Urban Archaeologist, of sorts"!  SO for me, having the opportunity to play and wallow in this beautiful fabric was like a dream come true.  After all you know I swear I lived in some gay form in the 40's!!  But I digress!  Anyone who has had the opportunity to own one of my pillows, not only will tell you that the craftsmanship is superb, but my attention to detail is very important to me, which make my bags and pillows signature to me.  I mixed a rich jade green 1930's satin brocade as the reverse side of this barkcloth pillow, because I love how it makes it so versatile for a cottage look, or taking it up a notch to Asian Glam.  I sold similar Asian pillows to a customer from NYC who had a guest room of shabby iron twin beds, very simple and these were on the bed, as artwork for the room, no art on the walls, white mirrors and chenille spreads, but this WAS the art.  So fabulous!  I also mixed and matched the piping along the edge of this pillow, that you will see both barkcloth and the jade satin damask.  As my signature with my pillows and bags, I expose the writing on the selvedge in my piping, so you will see "Guaranteed Vat Prints" in the piping.  I do this whenever I can as to me it is like the signature of an artist and true testament to the fact that is true vintage fabric.  The selvage usually reveals the truth as to whether something is vintage or not.  Lots of fabulous colors in this fabric, from mellow greens, to bold reds, aquas, turquoise and yellows on a crisp WHITE background.  I have used coordinating barkcloth tie closures on the back for easy removal of the pillow insert.  I like my pillows big and puffy and that is what you will get!  Measures a huge 20x20.  Expect excellent quality, professional and friendly customer service.  I encourage you to check my feedback as I am a reputable seller with the largest collection of barkcloth on the planet!  And my feedback is the window to my soul! :-)  Enjoy!  Brian Click to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to EnlargeClick to Enlarge Keep in mind that not only does Hipasbury have the largest collection of original barkcloth on EARTH, but we also offer complete custom sewing services, slipcovers, draperies, pillows, bags, quilts, duvets, you name it I make it and will offer it as a custom order for you in my Ebay Store.
