The tablecloth measures a rectangle 96 x 68" and features wonderful, handmade needle lace completely covering the entire ground. Most needlelace tablecloths will have linen cloth inserts, but this one is needle lace in its' entirety. The design is of fruit on pedestals as well as scrollwork with scalloped edges The napkins are large and measure 18" x 17 1/2" with needle lace corners and borders and fine linen ground. The color is antique white, not ecru. I soaked the tablecloth and it lightened considerably, the napkins are a shade darker and I haven't laundered these. I must confess that while ironing, it occurred to me that the people that had such fine linens MUST have had maids to iron them, because this one took quite a long time! It is a beautiful piece, one light tan spot noted and hard to find, I show it in the close-up with the dime. No broken brides or holes. The napkins are in good condition but I did notice a light spot on one--and if desired I can launder and press the napkins too. This would make an incredible display for the holidays, and an incredible gift to the hostess that loves to entertain! Completely handmade, one needle and thread, a MASTERPIECE that dates to the first quarter of the 20th century. Italian.
