Description
Please first read our description or ask about the shipping cost or other questions before you do your bid !!! Thank you very much. Museum Quality Art Deco Bronze Sculpture Panther Description An absolute marvellous bronze sculpture depicting a panther sculpted by one of the best 20th century Belgian animalier sculptors there ever was; “Raymond de Meester de Betzenbroeck (1904 - 1995)”. Take a look at the pictures, these will tell much more than my description. This splendid and from a very high quality bronze sculpture is in very good condition whit an absolute marvellous patina. This very collectable bronze is about 12” (30cm) tall. An absolute must for animalier bronze collectors. Raymond de Meester de Betzenbroeck (1904 - 1995) He visited the Zoo of Antwerp, studied the animals and met there Alberic Colling (1886-1962). This other famous artist saw the quality’s from Raymond de Meester and helped him with advice and assist. His first exhibition was in 1927 in Brussels with 39 figures of animals Bronze and plaster. In 1930, he became a member from the group of artists “Le Lierre” and from the “Cercle Artistique” in Brussels. He exposed with them in different Belgian cities. His inspiration was found in the animals from the Antwerp Zoo, but also in pets and farm animals. In 1936 he exposed in Kaunas and in Canada. He also went to Oslo for an exhibition from the Belgian art. In 1946 he exposed in Rio de Janeiro and in 1946 also in Utrecht, Stockholm and Milan. Much of his pieces we can find in museums from Antwerp, Gent, Brussels, Paris, Bern, Buenos Aires and Mexico. Work from him we find in private collections from the royal family in Belgium, Norway, Italia and King Farouk from Egypt. In 1972 he was honoured with the “Conrad Chapman Prize for Sculpture”. Important information to bidders! For this auction we prefer if possible a payment with an international IBAN SWIFT bank wire. We prefer not American Express or Pay pal for this transaction because of the very high fees. If we call an item old, it is our belief that the item is older than 50 years old. The word "style" means an item is made in the manner of and is probably not of the period associated with this style. BEFORE BIDDING PLEASE CLICK FOR Important messages ! Belangrijk om te weten !
