Description
Customers Before you buy please, See NEW Shipping and other Information Note At Bottom Of Page Working Model  ROSS LONDON™ Brass Micrometer Nautical Captain's 5 in. Sextant, With Nice wood box. EXCELLENT GIFT Prefer to pay a little more and have a better one? THIS IS A ROSS LONDON™ FAVORITE It took us longer to get these made than we thought but while they last it is nice to have them to offer now. We list both, Physical size 7+ in, and sextant size ( from pivot of arm ) 5 in. Many sellers sell a sextant by physical size only ( Very Important ). This sextant would be sold by most as a 7in, it is a 5in. If both sizes are not listed,  watch out. Working in the title means this sextant can be calibrated and used. Please compare feedback when deciding on a purchase. This item is a NEW brass intricate nautical sextant reproduction with sturdy box . This is one of the favorites. This is for the person wanting a sextant that is small, sturdy, easy viewing, has box,  sturdy mounted telescope and mirrors. The sextant itself is quite detailed, Slow Motion adjustment with 6 glass ( not plastic, very important, all of ours are glass ) filter lenses , and large swing arm, reflective mirrors, and has velvet lined box. The ROSS LONDON ™ is engraved on the swing arm and handle plate.  ROSS LONDON ™ is a trademark of our's (Canyon Gold). The index arm features a magnifying lens and a highly accurate slow motion adjuster. The micrometer intricate device allows you to advance the swing arm by a fine adjustments or fast motion. The full 120 degree arc is inset with white metal to contrast with the brass, and features individual degree demarcations. Imagine sailing ship captains in the early 1900s using an instrument like this. This heavy brass sextant also features a solid construction and weighs only 1lb 14 oz . Crafted in the style of a century ago, this sextant has a nicely polished and finished wood handle, as well as brass stand legs for upright easy display. All in all, would make a great gift for the sextant enthusiast and novice alike. Certainly a fine item for the sextant, brass, nautical, surveying, engineering instrument, militaria, or other collection - shines on display. This detailed item measures approximately 8 x 7 1/2 x 3 inches .  Hardwood Box measures 8 1/4 x 8 1/4 x 4 3/4 inches . SEXT5047 To see some sextant basics and helpful information about reproductions Information you need before you buy. Sextant Sizes are measured by pivot to arc length, or by length of arc degrees. Many sextants are sold by the physical size of the sextant, which causes you to actually get one size smaller sextant than you thought you were buying, we list both measurements, sextant size and physical measurements. Sextants  are measured from pivot of arm to dial or by the size of the arc. The reason this is very important is if you see a size listed as 6in for example and no other measurements, most likely it is a 5in sextant with a 6in measurement across the frame. This makes you think you are buying a 6in when in fact you are only getting a 5in. We list both measurements. Reproductions Reproductions are handmade copies of an antique, never perfect, but for those that like the look of years gone buy and are unable to get a genuine antique. If we received sone that were perfect we would refuse them as we would know they were not handmade reproductions, and we sell only reproduction sextants. If you want perfection spend the big bucks and get what you want, these are for the average use and as you can see we have over 99.7% happy customers. If the word Working is in the title, this means the maker of the sextant says it is ready for final adjustments and calibration. We do not sell sextants as calibrated as We believe everyone should be able to calibrate their sextant, or what are they going to do if it gets dropped, bumped, or other misuse, or if it just needs to be checked for accuracy.
