Description
George Nelson for Herman Miller You are viewing an original George Nelson for Herman Miller Thin Edge 5 drawer blonde mahogany dresser. This dresser has been completely refinished. This dresser had been painted first yellow and then blue. While this was unfortunate the advantages of someone's mistake are that the paint preserved the veneer and prevented any kind of moisture damage such as rings that normally plague dressers of this era. Also the original "m" drawer pulls had been removed and the original holes were filled and stock wood knobs replaced them on the end of each drawer. I was unable to locate original or similar pulls. Because the original holes had been repaired wisely there was no reason to open them up again just to put non-original pulls in place and leave what would be more noticeable holes on the drawers. If you are able to locate original pulls the option is still open to replace them. The legs were also not original, replacements for the legs were made out of 2X3 high quality oak and given an ebonized finish, resembling the original legs. Levelers were added to each leg. Please check out images 13 and 14 to view a few slight indents in the veneer, other than the indents the veneer is in amazing condition with a perfect top. The paint and original finish were removed without sanding or anything that would damage the veneer. The dresser was given a natural oil/poly finish for easy upkeep. The top drawer has all of its separations, the middle drawer is missing them, yet retains a set of brackets if you'd like to replace it. One of my favorite things about the mahogany veneer is that each drawer has 2 pieces with the grain going in different directions, so the way the light hits it and every different way you look at it will have a different look.
