Description
Hamilton Mounted M22 Deck Watch in both boxes. Both the carry box and the gimbals box are original, no replaced lids or hardware. Neither box has been restored (check out the shipboard fume residue on the snap catches). The leather strap is sound with no evidence of rot. The felt on the bottom box is excellent. This M22 has been fully serviced by me (HistoricTimekeepers.com). It has a new unbreakable mainspring rather than the 40 year old blue steel spring. I should add that like all precision watches I service, this watch has been adjusted to all 6 positions as it was when it left the factory. It has a total positional error (difference in rate between the the max and min rates across the 6 positions) of 9 seconds. A copy of the post service performance report (including horizontal and vertical amplitudes, etc) wll be provided to the winning bidder, as will a 1 year performance warranty. This watch has engraving on the case bottom indicating it was one of the flat M22s converted to the gimbals case by the USN in 1950. I have seen a few Mounted M22s with this marking, including a couple I purchased from the USN in the DRMO sales in the early 1990s. The only thing that is NOT original is the crystal. I had to replace the original domed plastic crystal with a bevelled glass crystal. The original plastic crystal shrank and was loose in the bezel. I gave up some time ago making crystals for thse from plastic crystal material; they always seemed to wind up doming toward the dial after a year or two. So it is glass. Apologies. Also, the box bottom has the post war sticker Hamilton used alerting users about the intended use in dial up position. Any questions, please email Buyer pays insured shipping via UPS or EMS (if overseas).
