Description
Rare original 1880's Victorian Baby carriage, made by the famous company of "Heywood Brothers & Wakefield"--metal stamp at bottom of carriage carries this designer company's name. Carriage in fine wicker, lace parasol and corduroy lining inside. Wonderful for interior design or even use; very comfy. Amazing advanced technology of a rotating hinge that adjusts the parasol into any side and parasol can also be taken out. The bed can also lay down. Nice hooks for a front safety belt, also a Victorian invention that we still use today. Condition is excellent. Wicker is strong and fresh and smooth with nice patina. Metal is perfect and strong. Corduroy is strong fresh and no dry rot at all. A few minor stains on corduroy which I am convinced will clean easily. 2-3 tiny holes on the lace on top (Barely noticeable) and one 1/2" hole in the linen/canvas that holds the parasol (Underneath the lace, so hard to see) Some wear on handles' paint as shown and minor marks near the hand painted flowers on the wood; all shown. Measures: 35" high from handle to floor. 34" from side edge of wicker to floor. 46" across the longest parts. About 30" across parasol. Please view my store for more rare antiques. Don't forget, not only antiques are a treasure to enjoy; they are a safer way to invest than banks or Wall street :) Like fine wine; their value only goes up, never down!
