Uncredited mid 18th century original map. A fascinating copper engraved map, published circa 1750 depicting the Holy Land in some detail with Old Testament biblical references.  The map centres approximately on Baghdad and present day Iraq/Iran. References include the Course of the Ark, Tower of Babylon, Land of Nod or Susiana, Cyparisson, here Noah built his Ark, etc etc. A previous owner (who may well have known the exact source) has pencilled the date of 1755 in the margin. A crisp, dark impression in fine condition, on heavy grade hand laid paper, unfolded. Approx. 11" x 7" (280mm x 190mm) map area only with good margins beyond.
