Description

FIRST CLASS MAIL INTERNATIONAL:Has been taking 4 to 12 weeks for items to arrive. This Box Chronometer was made for the U. S. Navy, by the Hamilton Watch Co. This is running well and the up down indicator is also working well. This is a “Model 22, 21 jewels”, is adjusted to “Temperature and 6 Positions”. The movement is No. 2F11941. The movement has nickel bridges with “Shadow line” damaskeening, has a gilt train, a steel escape wheel and a mono-metallic fully compensated balance with a non-magnetic hairspring. The hairspring has the “Breguet” overcoil. The chronometer has micrometric adjusting with the Special Cam Regulator. This chronometer has the safety setting device. The movement is signed, “Hamilton Watch Co. Model 22 – 21 Jewels Adj. To Temp. & 6 Pos, Made in U. S. A. U. S. Navy – Bu. Ships – 1942”. The case is “Hamilton 5332”. We see “5949” on the bezel. The movement has an off white dial with Railroad line minutes and black Arabic numeral hours. There is a seconds dial at 6 o’clock and an up-down indicator at 12 o’clock. The chronometer is fully gimbaled, in the original oak box. The box is in good condition with minor scratches and nicks to the wood case due to normal use. The piano hinges are fine, there is a bad dent in the wood front. The crystal has a scratch but is quite functional and does not impede the viewing of the dial.
