Description
hartconsultants Store Historical Map 1891 Birds's Eye View of Houston, Texas Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 HISTORICAL HOUSTON Custom framed and double-matted limited edition COLOR lithograph DEPICTING A Bird’s Eye View of Houston, Texas in 1891, after the original by A. L. Westyard, published by D. W. Ensing, Jr., which accurately depicts a well-known historically documented “Birds-Eye” view perspective of Houston, (looking South), 1891. This highly detailed panorama faithfully illustrates individual buildings and residences of that date, with numerous major streets identified, as well. Also reflected is the centralized location of manufacturing and industry just north of Buffalo Bayou, the spreading southern development of the city just past Gray and a southeast view of the Buffalo River, soon to become the Houston Ship Channel, as it meanders towards Galveston Bay. Illustrated along the lower margin are fully rendered buildings of prominence, as well as a Directory of Public Buildings, Hotels, Churches, Railroads and some of the leading Manufactories of that period. Original copies of this lithograph are rare and, when available, sell for over $5,000.00 each. This beautifully framed recent limited edition printing sells for a fraction of that amount. This is a “must have” décor or gift item for all native Houstonians, realtors, builders, developers, oil men, educators, businessmen or women, doctors, lawyers and University of Houston alumni. Even if you are a transplanted Houstonian, study this map and you will probably achieve a higher awareness of its history and geography than the average native Houstonian. Presented in a custom-made dark walnut frame with gilded bead and liner detailing, further surrounded by pale tan and hunter green accent mats behind UV glass, this incredibly accurate example of the Bird’s Eye View art form that ceased to be after the 1920’s would be a handsome addition to any home or office. It is completely wired and ready to be hung. What a special gift it would be for a family member, friend or business associate. Overall size: 27-1/4 inches by 37-1/4 inches Image size: 17 inches by 28 inches Shipping Weight: approx. 18 pounds (Large "Oversize 1" box) Insurance is MANDATORY! Houston, Texas buyers can pick up this item at our office and pay no shipping charges (but must pay local sales tax) and pick their choice of assorted frame styles and colors!
