This bust was created by world renowned sculptor Kermit Hobson Hawkins (KH Hawkins) sometime in the 60's and given as a gift to one of his friends who is the current owner that we are offering this for sale for. It was given to him sometime in the 70's Kermit Hawkins was known to give away his creations to friends and people he knew that appreciated his work. Kermit Hawkins was a master sculptor for the former Marx Toy company based in Erie, PA Kermit Hawkins created most of the toys designed by Marx toys including G.I. Joe and miniature firearms, The Big Wheel, Flintstones characters and many more. Kermit Hawkins also created the Sheik statue that adorned the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas NV and ascending Christ statues for many churches. The words The Billionaire are carved into the base of the bust and on the torso are the initials of the artist KH Hawkins. This is a one of a kind item that has been in a private collection for over 30 years. One of the unusual things about this bust is it looks like horns on the head of Howard Hughes. Kermit Hawkins died in November of 1991 and some of his sculptures are scattered throughout private collections worldwide as well as collectors of Marx Toy Company items. Kermit Hawkins was also commissioned by the Perry Sesquicentennial Celebration to commemorate 150 years of peaceful borders between Canada and the United States commemorating the anniversary of The War of 1812 last military conflict between the 2 countries. The plaque was a walnut carving with figures of "Aristotle" a female figure symbolizing liberty and a likeness of a Royal Canadian Mounted Policeman. Commodore Perry's fleet was stationed in Erie, PA and was instrumental in the battle of Lake Erie.
