This OLD Top parang is used by the Dayak ethnic group from one of longhouses at that region . . . From the photos you can clearly see that the mandau’s sheath is made of wood. It also plaited with 3 extremely fine and superb rattan plaited knobs. At the back of the parang’s sheath – it attached with a tree bark pocket for putting the second knife known as carving knife ( see photos). It has a beautiful with lot of “ patina “ rattan belt and has attached with lot of animals teeth. The mandau’s blade has extremely fine carved Dayak traditional motif, The mandau’s hilt is carved from one piece of Deer antler.. showing with amazingly and extremely fine carved with one of the most famous Dayak traditional NAGA motif and lot of human mask like motif.
