PETER THANK YOU FOR INFORMATION ON THIS COVERLET this coverlet appears to be identical to one shown page 336 in Dorothy & Harold Burnham's Book "Keep Me Warm One Night" on early weaving for Welland county niagara region southern ontario book also highlights traditional weaving from quebec Ontario and atlantic canada my husbands mother is 86 years young we are selling this comforter for her and also the red pioneer blankets listed today this was purchased a few years ago at a farm sale it has been wrapped and stored in a cedar chest it is a stunning signed and dated homespun hemp linen 2 panel comforter full hand stitched center seam beautiful decoration birds and flowers motif size is good 76" x 95" and extra 1" fringe being jacquard the pattern is fully reversed dated 1842 and initials B.M.B. the farm family had originally come from pennsylvannia and mother remembers the auctioneer saying they had come up with the loyalists to canada in a covered wagon otherwise we dont know any other history about it the familys farm name was Bourne a summer winter comforter bedspread there is a tiny repair on 1 corner that has been over stitched and tiny fray in bottom edge in 1 pattern and just general use THIS IS NOT A FRAGILE CONDITION Heavy good weight and well preserved ready for your heritage home accessory otherwise we consider this in super super condition allow $20.00 shipping i do combine shipping for reduced rate
