Here is one of those wonderful red and green quilts popular in the mid 1800's. And this one is from my own personal collection, trying to down size.:) In addition to the perfect execution of the baskets, which are all hand stitched and pieced. Each basket has been signed. The origin of the quilt is unknown, the names state a few different areas, New River N.J. and New Vienna, Ohio. this should be easy enough to google and find out some of the makers history. A few of the signatures are: Alice M. Jeffrey-New River N.J. M.J. Williams Mrs. Mary Moore Mary C Huff-New Vienna Ohio Mrs. Hanna Huff -New Vienna Ohio My research of the towns in Ohio indicated it had a large population of Quakers during this time and earlier so it may be of Quaker origin. But a more detailed history search would probably tell more about the history of the makers. It measures 67 x 82, Hand quilted at 8-10 spi, a thin summer quilt, it is clean, a few light storage spots, and a few seams need a few stitches. I am not a quilter just a collector and I didn't want to repair them without proper documentation. The Turkey red seems to have held up very well and some of the green fabrics have oxidized but not too bad. I have taken lots of pictures so you can see what a beauty it is. Please read my description carefully. I try to be as accurate as possible so you don't get any surprises. All of my items are vintage so this makes them difficult to describe. See my other listings for more great items! I am always happy to combine! I offer two forms for shipping, priority or first class, priority takes 2-3 days and first class can sometimes take over a week. I ship on or the day after payment is recieved.
