Get Vendio Gallery - Now FREE! nine76love store   Please visit my eBay STORE   for Great Designer Jewelry, Watches, Crystal, Silver, and other Hard-to-Find COLLECTIBLES, as well as a wide selection of Ornaments     For your consideration: A wonderfully Hand-Embroidered SARMA Table Runner/Center-Piece or Throw This stunning Tapestry / Throw was purchased in the late-1970s in Istanbul     This wonderfully hand-crafted SARMA piece came without the trims or tassels My wife specially commissioned a Beverly Hills upholsterer to order special thread from Italy, and had him fashion the corded trim and tassels to match the original Gold-Thread embroidery     The design is a little hard to describe, so please be sure to look at the pictures for a better idea   A quick look at the textiles would clearly show the amazing craftsmanship and hand-crafted work that went into creating the piece!     The SARMA technique of embroidery, which was created by the Ottomans, literally means "wrapping" From my understanding, the technique consists of decorating a particular piece of cloth with scenery using a cardboard foundation The cardboard images are then covered & wrapped with layers & layers of embroidered Gold thread     This is a wonderful example of the SARMA technique!!  What a stunning display of craftsmanship!!     Here, we have a BLACK VELVET piece of fabric that is decorated with Gold-Threads with a Flower, Leaf & Bird motif     The origin and age of the piece are unknown .. I cannot speak as to how old this piece is Nor can I speak as to whether this is an original Ottoman or later Turkish Vintage piece   ***   The Center-Piece was used occasionally as an EXOTIC decorative accent to our living room Your guests are sure to compliment you when they see the piece displayed on a table or sofa, or even when hung on a wall     I would say that the piece is in EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION with no particular flaws to mention (One spot on the Velvet, next to the center Medallion has a very slight water mark, it can be seen only in the 2nd picture)   This Beauty measures 33 1/2 x 34 1/2 inches (not counting the tassels)   This is truly a wonderful Unique...
