Item #1 still has the US Customs instpection dated 1937 from Ceylon. 1. Small Round Box: It is approximately 2.5" h x 3.0" in circumference (outside measurements). The rim of the lid is missing approximately half the rim. It is missing a total of 8 ivory inlays. Seven on the lid and one on the box itself. 2. Smallest of three stackable baskets. No quills missing but some ivory inlays are missing. Dimensions: approximately 9" w X 7" d X 3" h. Base is approx 6" X 4". 3. Middle sized basket. No quills missing but someivory inlays are missing. Missing 2 of the 4 leg pegs. Dimensions: Approximately 10" w X 7.5" d X 3" h. The base is approximately 6.5" X 4". 4. Largest of three baskets. Missing 7 quills (I have 5 loose quills that I believe goes to this basket). Some ivory inlays are missing. 5. Lidded Basket. Some quills missing off the lid and a good many ivory inlays. On the inside of the lid there is a carved ivory elephant with the word MATARA. Dimensions: 10" w X 7.5" d X 5" h. Base is 7.5" X 4.5". Missing a leg peg. 6. This box is missing nearly half the quills on the left, 1/4" on the back and about 1" on the lid. Has original key and lock. Missing some inlaid ivory. Has carved ivory elephant on inside of lid with the word MATARA. Dimensions: Approximately 8" w X 6" d X 3" h. These items are from the private collection of the late Don Forsman. Mr. Forsman managed and later owned a wholesale furniture showroom in San Francisco called Elsie Farris Inc.
