Description
ALL OF OUR AUCTIONS ARE PRIVATE DUE TO THE OVERWHELMING FAKE EMAILS SENT TO UNDERBIDDERS. The graining and patina are superb on this mask and it is extremely beautiful in form, shape and color. Fresh to the market and from an old collection in Texas, it is one of four important Eskimo/Northwest Coast items we currently have listed. Measuring 9" in height and 6" in width, it should attract considerable attention world wide and like all of our auctions it is being put up without any reserve. A custom museum mount is also included. This mask clearly shows a generation or more worth of use which is very evident on the reverse side where the human skin has come in contact with the wood mask itself. We feel that this is the most important Eskimo object EVER to hit the Internet as it is truly a masterpiece of museum quality so good luck when bidding and of course we will guarantee the absolute authenticity of this 19th century object with original patina. Also, the artist who carved this masterpiece took full advantage of the rich graining of the wood resulting in a very "Japanese" aesthetic. A finer Eskimo mask of this type would be hard to find. Due to the importance of this item, it will be very carefully packed and shipped by Fed Ex for a cost of $40.00 in the US or $85.00 foreign. All major credit cards accepted by fax with a signature. All sales final. Payment must be received within 7 days of auction ending. Check out my other items!
